Show section/category descriptions is a module developed by elxisitalia.com. This module allows to publish a short description of Elxis sections or categories, with link direct to their page.
The module is based on the set configuration of the menu link of the sections / categories of your Elxis site.
Is recommended to use it on the home page, where visitors can get an overview of the descriptions of various sections / categories published.

How it works.

The module displays the section / category descriptions based on their IDs entered in the appropriate field, and each category or section ID to be linked to ID menu of the item menu linked to the section / category, so that it can use the configuration of single sections or categories.

Configuration parameters.

Content from:
choose the content type you want display : Section / Category.
IDs to publish:
Insert one or more IDs comma separated of the contents choosed (from section or from category).
IDs menu:
Insert one or more IDs comma separated of the menu links combined with the selected contents. These IDs must be writed following the order of insertion of selected content (section / category)..
Limit the text to:
Choose how you want limit the text description to show a brief introduction. The parameters available are three:
Number charaters: define the text max lenght you want publish, based on number of charatcres.
First full stop (dot): the text will be published until the first dot or full stop (.) founds in the description.
First end line: will be published all text from the beginning until the first end line ( Shitf/Enter - tag html <br /> ) found.
First paragraph: will be published only content of the first paragraph of the description. (all content between the first <p>…..</p> HTML tags)
Linked Titles:
Yes, linkable title.
No, normal title,
Read More:
Show: displays at the end of short description "read more...".
Hide: Not display "read more...".
Columns:
set the column number of the layout module il numero di colonne del layout del modulo. (max 4 columns).
Image:
Yes if you want show the sedction / category image.
No, if you don' want show it
Show thumbnails:
Show or not the image as a thumbnail or not.
Image align:
Put the image to the left or to the right of the text, if showed.
Width / height:
set the width and height in px of the thumbnail. A square shape is a good solution.(es.: 100x100). The thumbnail will be resized maintaining the right proportions.
Order by:
Set in which order you want display the descriptions of section/categories choosen.

Practical example.

We Suppose to publish in the module the descriptions of some categories, categories that have their links in menu (ig: mainmenu or topmenu and so on), where each link has its own publishing configuration.
If you have same links in more menu (eg MainMenu and opmenu) you must choose the ID menu based on the type of configuration you want .

How can you see in these two examples, the inserting of ID menu in the field must always follow the order of entry IDs of the categories.

Example B:
If you want different configurations than those set in the links menu, you can create links with different link menu configurations in the system menu of elxis, so you'll have a situation like this.
